## Description

The Levin Lab at Tufts University is dedicated to investigating information storage and processing in biological systems. Led by Principal Investigator Michael Levin, the lab focuses on understanding diverse intelligence in evolved, designed, and hybrid complex systems. Their work combines developmental biophysics, computer science, and behavioral science to explore how cognition operates at multiple scales, from single cells to whole organisms and swarms.

One of the lab's unique specialties is the study of developmental bioelectricity, including how cells connect in somatic electrical networks that control large-scale body structure. They also investigate morphogenesis, the self-assembly, repair, and improvised solutions of multicellular bodies. The lab uses a variety of natural animal models and creates synthetic and chimeric life forms to develop conceptual frameworks for communicating with diverse intelligences, including cells, tissues, organs, robots, and software-based AIs.

The Levin Lab also offers resources, job opportunities, and collaborations with a range of academic and research institutions. For inquiries about the lab, you can reach out to their administrator at william.baga@tufts.edu.
