## Description

DTI CARES, short for the Collective Approach for Restoring our Ecosystems, is a Florida-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit working across the Caribbean Basin. A BIPOC-led organization, it brings together divers, scientists, local operators, coral nurseries, and community partners to support reef health and build local capacity. Its work combines diver training, reef monitoring, and restoration, with a focus on inspiring the next generation of ocean stewards through hands-on science and real-world experience.

DTI CARES trains recreational divers as Ocean Guardians, connecting dive skills with reef science and community stewardship so participants can collect useful data. Its monitoring work uses photogrammetry and 3D models to track the same reefs over time and help partner scientists assess conditions and inform restoration decisions. Restoration activities include coral nursery care and debris removal, carried out with local organizations.

To date, the organization reports 5,348 coral fragments outplanted, 17,386 volunteer dive hours, 34 conservation expeditions, and 252 divers and scientists trained.
