## Description

Alain Duban is a French artist born in 1952 who lives and works in Limousin. His practice brings together childhood play, a craft inherited from his father, a desire to make objects, and a particular interest in precious materials. Working with bronze, silver, brass and enamel, he creates imaginative animal sculptures and decorative objects marked by poetry, warmth and humour.

Duban’s extensive bestiary includes elephants, cats, sheep, birds, frogs, foxes, horses, giraffes and many other creatures, often placed in playful or unexpected scenes. Some works combine animals with flowers, foliage or everyday objects; others draw on familiar stories and characters. His collection also includes ornate boxes and coffrets, reliquaries, bookends and pieces described as enamelled silverwork. Individual creations have distinctive names, such as The Fox and the Rose, Blue Elephant, Dancing Bear and Peace Dove.

The website presents photographs and a numbered catalogue of his works, alongside contact details for the artist and Galerie du Canal in Limoges.
