## Description

Dungog Shire Palliative Care Volunteers provides free, non-medical support to residents of Dungog Shire living with a life-limiting illness, as well as their carers, families and friends. The service aims to help people remain at home and live with dignity, peace and comfort. Active in the community since 1994, the organisation offers supported transport to medical appointments and treatments, respite and companionship through visits at home or in hospital, and the supply and laundering of linen. It also provides equipment needed to support care at home, including loans of items such as hospital beds and oxygen concentrators. Alongside practical assistance, volunteers offer a caring presence, a listening ear and support for people navigating treatment and its challenges. The service’s work is made possible by volunteers and community support, and the organisation welcomes people interested in volunteering. Dungog Shire Palliative Care Volunteers serves the local community with a personal, compassionate approach, supporting both people with illness and those who care for them.
