## Description

The Diocese of Wheeling-Charleston, established by Blessed Pius IX on July 19, 1850, is a prominent brand in the religious sector. It was formerly known as the Diocese of Wheeling but was re-designated in 1974 under a decree of Pope Paul VI. With the Co-Cathedral Sacred Heart Church located in Charleston, West Virginia, it encompasses the entire state, covering an impressive area of 24,282.45 square miles and serving a population of 1,806,926. The Diocese has a rich history, originally being within the State of Virginia before West Virginia separated in 1863. The brand's commitment stands out, as shown by their realignment on August 13, 1974, to fully align with the state's boundaries. The Diocese offers a range of services and resources, including Catholic schools, an archives department, ministries such as campus and prison ministry, and offices dedicated to evangelization and catechesis. With a clear vision and a steadfast dedication to their community, the Diocese of Wheeling-Charleston continues to thrive as a beacon of faith and spirituality in West Virginia.
