# e-Αιμοδότες

- **Website:** <https://e-aimodotes.gr>
- **Primary alias:** `e-aimodotes.gr`

## Description

Created voluntarily by public-school students during the COVID-19 pandemic, the platform provides information about urgent blood donation needs and scheduled blood drives. Users can receive mobile notifications, helping them learn when and where donations are needed and contact the relevant department at the right time.

The service is available to citizens and hospital blood donation departments as software as a service, and its Android application delivers updates directly to users’ phones. It also shares information about blood donation, platelet donation, and bone marrow donors. Hospitals can contact the team to learn about joining the platform. Operating since March 2021, e-Αιμοδότες reports activity across 22 hospitals and says it is under the auspices of Greece’s Ministry of Digital Governance. The initiative aims to support timely donations and help improve awareness of changing blood supply needs. Its development has received Greek and international distinctions, according to the organization.
