With humble beginnings in Princeton, MN, the company was founded in 2004 by John Herou, an electrical contractor and owner of Classic Golf Car Company. The inspiration for e-ride Industries came when the National Highway Traffic Safety Admin (NHTSA) introduced a new class of motor vehicles known as Low Speed Vehicles (LSVs) or Neighborhood Electric Vehicles (NEVs) in 1998. Feedback from customers who wanted larger, utility-based vehicles led to the development of the first prototype in 2003.

Since then, a team of talented entrepreneurs and engineers have worked tirelessly to create high-quality electric vehicles designed specifically for low-speed, electric, passenger, and utility markets. Today, e-ride Industries offers two models: the exv4 electric transportation vehicle and the exv2 Patriot electric utility vehicle, with a range of customizable options to meet individual needs. With great success across the country and around the world, e-ride Industries continues to pioneer advancements in their models while developing future products.
