## Description

The Eastern Africa Standby Force (EASF) is a pivotal regional organization dedicated to enhancing peace and security within the Eastern Africa region. Functioning as part of the broader African Standby Force, EASF integrates military, police, and civilian capabilities to address complex security challenges effectively. Established following the African Union's initiative in 2004, EASF serves as a rapid deployment mechanism capable of executing preventive actions, peace support operations, and humanitarian interventions to stabilize conflict-affected areas.

EASF is composed of ten active member states, including Burundi, Djibouti, Ethiopia, Kenya, and Uganda, with South Sudan anticipated to join as a full member in the near future. Its mission is to maintain a fully operational and integrated standby force ready to respond swiftly to emerging crises, contributing to regional and continental stability. Through structured training exercises, strategic partnerships, and a focus on conflict prevention, EASF aims to promote cooperation, security, and peace in Eastern Africa, thereby enhancing regional integration.
