## Description

East Maui Animal Refuge, also known as the Boo Boo Zoo, is a dedicated non-profit sanctuary located in Haiku, Hawaii. Established in 1977, EMAR began as a therapy program for a woman named Suzie Schwab, who had been diagnosed with terminal cancer. Suzie's love and care for injured animals not only gave her strength but also contributed to her recovery. This inspired her husband to bring home more animals in need, leading to the development of EMAR. Today, EMAR is a rehabilitation center that provides a safe haven for over 300 injured and orphaned animals. With a team of dedicated volunteers, they tirelessly work to protect and nurture their animal ohana (family). EMAR is a no-kill sanctuary, ensuring that each animal receives the utmost care until they can be released or find forever homes. Their mission is to provide care for any animal in distress when no other individual or organization is available. Operating on donations, EMAR offers their services at no financial charge to those who rescue animals in need. They also rely on generous donations from supporters to continue their life-saving work. If you would like to support EMAR's mission of helping the helpless, you can make a donation. Join them in their compassionate journey towards a better world for animals in need.
