Edmonton Community Adult Learning Association (ECALA) supports adult learning across Edmonton by allocating Alberta Government funding to community organizations that deliver literacy and foundational learning programs for adults. Recognized by the Alberta Government as a Granting Council under the Community Adult Learning Program (CALP) Policy, ECALA connects public investment with local learning opportunities and the organizations that provide them.

Since 1998, ECALA has invested in community-based adult education, guided by a vision of a community where everyone can learn and grow. Its investment reached $2 million annually in 2018. In addition to funding, the association offers professional development information and resources for learning providers, including a professional development calendar and guidelines. Its website also shares a directory of learning opportunities, learner stories, information about funded agencies, and ways for community members to get involved.

ECALA acknowledges that its work and funding take place on the land of the First Peoples, known as Amiskwaciwâskahikan and now called Edmonton. Its work brings organizations together to expand access to learning for adults.
