About
Description
ECHO100PLUS is a registered Austrian charity that was established in 2012 by a group of friends, mostly Austrians with strong connections to Greece. The organization was motivated to take action when they witnessed the severity of the economic and social crisis in Greece. ECHO100PLUS serves as a bridge between NGO's and private initiatives in Greece and their international counterparts, all with the common goal of supporting Greece during these challenging times.
Due to the economic and financial crisis, the Greek public welfare system is unable to adequately respond to the growing problems, leaving it up to private humanitarian organizations like ECHO100PLUS to address the increasing poverty and social distress. The organization focuses on securing funding from international sources as the Greek private sector and government funding have become scarce. ECHO100PLUS has extended its solidarity program to support several refugee aid initiatives as the refugee crisis took a toll on Greece, which was already facing economic difficulties.
The organization assists local NGOs that provide crucial support to refugees and impoverished Greek communities. They also provide essential supplies such as dry clothes, shelter, food, and medical attention to the refugees who arrive daily on the Greek islands. ECHO100PLUS is actively involved in various projects to address the most urgent needs in partnership with established NGOs.
For those who wish to get involved, ECHO100PLUS welcomes volunteers to support their aid programs on the islands of Leros and Ritsona. You can also donate to their cause and stay updated with their latest news and projects through their website
