**Description of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea (MFSA)**

Established in 1993 by the heads of Central Asian states, the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea (MFSA) aims to tackle the severe ecological crisis and improve socio-economic conditions in the Aral Sea basin, recognized as one of the major disasters of the 20th century. MFSA operates through its Executive Committee, and its governance structure includes various commissions focused on specific environmental and developmental tasks. 

The primary objectives of MFSA encompass financing collaborative environmental and scientific programs that contribute to the restoration of the Aral Sea and address regional socio-ecological issues. This includes funding fundamental research on natural resource management and creating intergovernmental monitoring systems to evaluate the ecological state of the area. Furthermore, MFSA mobilizes resources for projects aimed at preserving air, water, and land resources, while actively engaging in international initiatives for the ecological rehabilitation of the Aral Basin. By doing so, MFSA seeks to foster a sustainable and healthy environment for the communities affected by the Aral crisis.
