## Description

The Austrian Institute of Ecology (Österreichisches Ökologie-Institut) is an independent, non-profit organisation working to advance a sustainable and socially just society. Founded in 1985, it addresses environmental and climate protection, biodiversity, and responsible resource use through practical, collaborative work. Its activities span the UN 2030 Agenda, the circular economy, resource conservation, research and communication on the risks of nuclear power, inclusive crisis preparedness, climate mitigation and adaptation, and biodiversity initiatives.

The Institute works across the boundaries of science, society, public administration, business, and politics. It brings together interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary research, public participation projects, education, and communication, guided by the belief that lasting solutions combine scientific knowledge with practical experience. Its projects and activities include initiatives such as Hunger.Macht.Profite., StärKa, BuildUPspeed, and Café Dialograum. Consulting services are delivered by pulswerk GmbH, a subsidiary established by Institute employees in 2012. The Institute also shares news and event invitations through its newsletter and welcomes support for its work.
