## Description

Ecomemb is a European company specializing in the sustainable regeneration of reverse osmosis membranes so they can be reused in the processes for which they were designed. Founded in December 2022 as a spin-off of the University of Girona and the Catalan Institute for Water Research, the company builds on more than a decade of research and was recognized with Catalonia’s 2024 National Innovation Award for best science-based company.

Using its own patented technology, Ecomemb restores used membranes and adapts treatment to each client’s technical requirements. Its services include collecting decommissioned membranes, assessing whether they can be recovered, membrane characterization and autopsies, technical projections and assistance, and access to a stock of membranes. The regenerated products are designed to deliver performance close to new membranes while supporting water-quality requirements and efficient operation.

Ecomemb’s circular approach can reduce membrane replacement costs by up to 60%, extend membrane service life, and lower energy use.
