## Description

Economics from the Top Down is an independent publication exploring new ideas in economics and the social sciences. Written and researched by Blair Fix, it features in-depth, often quantitative essays that examine how economic systems, political power, technology, energy use, and social change shape the world. Its articles draw on data and analytical models to investigate topics ranging from wealth inequality, housing, and corporate consolidation to empires, oil production, education, and the environmental effects of technology. The publication also considers subjects beyond political economy, including scientific developments in cosmology and research on human longevity. Readers can browse articles by topic and date, discover popular posts, and explore the publication’s archives and other publications. Economics from the Top Down is supported entirely by its readers and invites them to become members or contribute support. The site also offers an email newsletter for updates and maintains a presence on Mastodon, Bluesky, YouTube, and Twitter. Its work is published under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 License.
