# Écriture Icônes - **Website:** - **Primary alias:** `ecriture-icones.fr` ## Description Écriture Icônes is a French-language resource dedicated to the history, practice and spiritual meaning of Orthodox iconography. Rooted in the Byzantine tradition, the site explains why an icon is understood not simply as a religious painting, but as a sacred image created according to principles passed down through the Church. Its guides explore Orthodox icon history and theology, the stages and materials involved in writing an icon, and the Christian symbols associated with Christ, Mary, angels and saints. The site also offers introductory and advanced icon-writing workshops. Participants can learn about preparing the wooden panel and gesso, making a preparatory drawing, applying natural pigments, using egg tempera and gilding with gold leaf. These practical techniques are presented as part of a patient, contemplative craft. Founded around the teaching and writing of iconographer and instructor Marie-Claire Fougasse, Écriture Icônes brings together technical articles, spiritual reflections and resources for both beginners and experienced practitioners. Its purpose is to share and sustain the sacred art of the Orthodox icon in keeping with tradition. ## Industries - 🍿 Arts and Entertainment - 🍿 Visual Arts and Design _(under Arts and Entertainment)_ - 🎸 Hobbies and Leisure - 🎸 Crafts _(under Hobbies and Leisure)_ ## Logos & icons - logo _(primary)_ — PNG — [download](https://cdn.brandfetch.io/idOvniyibU/w/512/h/512/theme/dark/logo.png?c=1bxid64Mup7aczewSAYMX&t=1791461881644) ## Colors | Name | Hex | Theme | | --- | --- | --- | | Hokey Pokey | #c9a227 | accent | | Coffee Bean | #1e110a | dark | | White | #ffffff | light | ## Fonts - var(--f-serif) — asset _(custom)_ - var(--f-display) — asset _(custom)_ --- _Source: _ _See [/llms.txt](/llms.txt) for a full list of agent-readable pages, and [/auth.md](/auth.md) for how agents authenticate._
