E-Cubers is an industry-led, not-for-profit initiative that addresses the growing need for Equipment Systems Engineers in Industry 4.0. They bring together leaders from industry and academia to promote study at all levels, from primary school to doctoral degrees. E-Cubers offers information, support, and practical advice for engineers entering Equipment Systems Engineering roles. So, what does an Equipment Systems Engineer do? They develop, implement, test, and maintain solutions for manufacturing facilities based on Industry 4.0 principles. This includes using cognitive computing, the IoT, cloud computing, and more to create cyber-physical systems. They require traditional mechanical and electrical engineering skills, advanced controls skills, inspection and software validation skills, and knowledge of IT and IS. Industry 4.0 is the ongoing fourth industrial revolution, where digitalization and the Smart Factory are transforming manufacturing and business processes. It's not just changing operations on the factory floor, but also entire business models, creating efficiencies, productivity gains, and new business opportunities. E-Cubers is sponsored by industry leaders, including SL Controls and other prominent companies in pharmaceutical, medical device, consumer, and food and beverage manufacturing.
