## Description

Ed Scarlett is a London eyewear brand with roots dating to 1705, when English optician Edward Scarlett opened The Old Spectacle Shop in Soho. In 1727, he produced what the brand describes as the world’s first optical frame with hinged temples. Today, Ed Scarlett continues this heritage through eyewear that combines modern design and engineering with traditional craftsmanship.

Its frames are individually handmade in London using Mazzucchelli acetate, available in a wide range of colours. Customers can choose ready-to-wear spectacle frames and sunglasses, or explore two made-to-order options. The Custom service uses established designs and sizes, allowing customers to select a distinctive frame in their preferred acetate colour. For a more personal approach, the Bespoke service starts from a blank canvas, with each detail tailored to the customer. It can also be used to recreate a past favourite.

Ed Scarlett presents its work as a meeting of innovation, technology and artisanal skill, building on three centuries of optical history.
