Edgecombe Community College is dedicated to meeting the educational, training, and cultural needs of the Edgecombe County community and surrounding areas. Since its establishment in 1967, the college has provided exceptional teaching and learning opportunities, resulting in student success. With campuses in Tarboro and Rocky Mount, as well as online classes, Edgecombe Community College serves approximately 5,500 individuals annually in its diverse range of programs, including two-year degrees, diplomas, certificates, and continuing education courses.

In January 2020, the College unveiled the Center for Innovation on its Tarboro campus, which offers students hands-on access to cutting-edge technologies and practices in advanced manufacturing. Under the leadership of Dr. Gregory K.

McLeod, who became president in August 2018, Edgecombe Community College has prioritized expanding educational and training opportunities for students. The college has formed strategic partnerships with regional institutions of higher education and created short-term training courses to equip students with in-demand skills. Edgecombe Community College has achieved numerous successes in 2022, including high rankings in performance, recognition as a military-friendly school, and prestigious awards for faculty and graduates.

The college also introduced an online bookstore to improve affordability and brought back the Edgecombe Performance Series, offering remarkable entertainment to the community.
