Edgemead High School is a well-established co-educational English-medium public school in Cape Town. Since its founding in 1986 with just 71 pupils, the school has grown significantly and now boasts an enrollment of approximately 1200 students. With a proud history of strong academics, fair discipline, and comprehensive personal development, Edgemead High School offers students an all-round education that prepares them for the world of work and life in general. At Edgemead High School, our central aim is to provide every student with equal opportunities and a supportive learning environment. Our diverse pupil population reflects this commitment, catering to top achievers as well as average and below-average pupils. We believe that everyone should feel at home here. As a public school, Edgemead High is managed by a dynamic Governing Body, offering a considerable level of autonomy in areas such as admissions, discipline, and school ethos. However, the responsibility for financing the school falls partially on the parents, who cover the costs beyond the state-provided basics. This allows us to employ additional staff, keep class sizes small, and offer a wide range of extra services to our students. Our approach to education is encapsulated in our motto, to have life more abundantly. We strive to achieve this by providing a well-rounded education that promotes academic achievement and encourages students to pursue lifelong interests in our diverse extracurricular program.
