## Description

Edhat is an award-winning online news publication that has been serving Santa Barbara County since 2003. Founded by the late Peter Sklar, Edhat was one of the first-ever citizen journalism websites, bringing neighbors together virtually to discuss local issues, share photos, and participate in contests. With the ever-evolving media landscape, Edhat remains a favorite among community members for its unique take on Santa Barbara. This brand reaches over 230,000 users and receives an average of 1.5 million pageviews each month. Readers come to Edhat for the latest breaking news, conversations with neighbors, pictures of animals, police scanner reports, and comments on various topics. It offers a unique hybrid of traditional and citizen journalism, with staff and local contributors reporting on breaking news and community-generated content. Edhat also maintains a strong commitment to providing a respectful and inclusive online community for its readers. This award-winning brand is independently owned and operated, relying on member subscriptions and advertising revenue to sustain its operations.
