## Description

Edrdg, or the Electronic Dictionary Research and Development Group, is a renowned brand that specializes in the compilation of electronic dictionaries and research in applied computational linguistics, with a focus on computer lexicography. Established in 2000 as part of Monash University's Faculty of Information Technology, the group has since become an independent entity. Led by Jim and his global collaborators, Edrdg is responsible for the EDICT Project, which has created several major Japanese-English dictionary files, now owned by the brand. Some of Edrdg's significant ongoing projects include the JMdict/EDICT Japanese-English Electronic Dictionary database, ENAMDICT/JMnedict Japanese Proper Names Electronic Dictionary database, JMDictDB online database, KANJIDIC/KANJIDIC2 Kanji Information databases, and the WWWJDIC dictionary server. Additionally, Edrdg collaborates closely with the Tanaka Corpus of parallel Japanese-English sentence pairs. The brand allows the usage of its dictionary files for both commercial and non-commercial purposes, with appropriate acknowledgement. Successful commercial users are requested to make a donation to support the maintenance, development, and related activities of Edrdg.
