The Elizabeth Fry Society of Northeastern Ontario is a community-based non-profit charitable organization that has been dedicated to confronting the effects of criminalization and incarceration for over 50 years. With a focus on women and gender diverse people, they provide support services and practical assistance to criminalized or at-risk individuals. Their goal is to help these individuals overcome barriers to reintegration and build stable, resilient lives with appropriate support networks.

Through a human rights and equity perspective, they advocate for those who are incarcerated, in the court system, and in the community. Additionally, they promote alternatives to incarceration while advocating for systemic change. The Society also aims to raise community awareness regarding inequality and the oppressive social conditions that contribute to people becoming criminalized.

With programs such as Ongoing Support & Volunteer Services, Bail Verification & Supervision, Homelessness Network - Housing Case Management, Open Arts Studio, and Restorative Justice & Conflict Mediation, they deliver impactful services to those in need. Supported by various funders, both private and public, the Elizabeth Fry Society of Northeastern Ontario expresses gratitude for the continued support that makes a difference in the lives of women and young women in the community
