## Description

The Eskasoni Fish & Wildlife Commission (EFWC) works to protect and enhance culturally significant species and habitats in and around Eskasoni First Nation and the Bras d’Or Lakes. Its work supports the health of local ecosystems and the community’s continued relationship with the lands and waters. Guided by a Two-Eyed Seeing approach, the Commission collaborates with partners to bring together perspectives in its conservation efforts.

A central priority is maintaining a strong, healthy food, social and ceremonial (FSC) fishery for members of Eskasoni First Nation, with a commitment to sustaining it for at least seven generations. EFWC also works to protect and preserve the habitats that support these species. Its operations are guided by values including integrity, respect, diversity, accountability, partnership, teamwork, honesty, reciprocity, rights and responsibility, and safety.

The Commission is based at 4115 Shore Road in Eskasoni, Nova Scotia, and is open Monday through Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. It shares information through its website and social media channels.
