With two-thirds of our forest areas protected under national or community (Natura 2000) regulations, we maintain close relationships with nature conservation managers and the relevant National Park Directorates. Our commitment to nature conservation is reflected in our nature-oriented forest management practices, including bird protection, the role of deadwood, and forest reserves. At EGERERDŐ Zrt., we're passionate about promoting eco-tourism. Our extensive network of hiking, cycling, and horseback riding trails, running through the breathtaking landscapes of Mátra, Bükk, and Heves-Borsodi, offers visitors an opportunity to explore the natural wonders of the region. For a unique experience, we operate three narrow-gauge railways for both regular and festive schedules, providing entertainment for families and visitors of all ages. We also prioritize environmental education, offering forest schools and open days to shape the mindset of the younger generation. Additionally, we engage in sustainable forestry practices, including tree planting, forest management, utilization of forest products, forest protection, and wildlife management. The revenue generated from the sales of harvested timber supports forest regeneration, maintenance of young forests, as well as tourism and community projects. We primarily sell timber within the domestic market, with only a small percentage exported.
