- **Primary alias:** `egmontgroup.org`

## Description

The Egmont Group is a collaborative international organization comprising 177 Financial Intelligence Units (FIUs) dedicated to combating money laundering and terrorist financing (ML/TF) globally. Serving as a vital platform, the Egmont Group enhances communication, knowledge sharing, and cooperation among its member FIUs, thereby promoting adherence to global anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing standards.

With a focus on financial intelligence sharing, the organization plays a critical role in informing policy decisions, identifying ML/TF risks, and facilitating effective international collaboration. The Egmont Group does not conduct financial investigations itself; instead, it empowers domestic authorities to manage inquiries while providing valuable resources and training through its various working groups. Key areas of support include improving the understanding of ML/TF challenges and aiding in the implementation of international resolutions from bodies such as the UN Security Council and the Financial Action Task Force (FATF). Overall, the Egmont Group stands as a cornerstone institution in the global framework to thwart financial crime.
