## Description

Egnahemsfabriken Tjörn is a member-driven economic association and community platform based in Svanvik on the island of Tjörn, Sweden. Its mission is to create more ways for people to build and access their own homes, while making construction a shared social and environmental effort. At its house factory, members can carry out building projects with access to shared resources, guidance and a collaborative setting. The organisation also makes its own house models, takes on construction assignments, organises building brigades and helps people develop ideas into designs, drawings and project estimates. Its services support self-builders and groups building together, as well as clients seeking design or construction assistance. Egnahemsfabriken offers courses, workshops and practical activities in social and ecological building, and provides a venue for gardening, local culture and community initiatives. It also works with public-sector partners to create meaningful employment through projects involving construction, cultivation and food. In collaboration with researchers and educational institutions, it supports participatory projects exploring housing, design, materials and resilient communities.
