Our mission is to provide essential veterinary services, aid the local community, and educate animal owners in Cairo, Egypt. We run a free equine veterinary clinic where we take in sick and injured horses and donkeys, treat them, and educate their owners about proper animal care. Our founders, Jill and Warren Barton, were deeply affected by the plight of these horses and donkeys in Egypt, particularly because many of them are descendants of Australian war horses from WWI. After volunteering in Cairo, they decided to dedicate their lives to helping these animals and established EEA. We believe in the importance of kindness and compassion towards animals, and we aim to instill these values in children and young adults. We regularly host school groups, allowing students to participate in clinic activities and interact with our animals. We also provide practical experience to local veterinary college students, who often lack hands-on training. Located in Abu Sir, Egypt, where three 5th-dynasty kings built their pyramids, we serve a community of working equines whose owners can't afford veterinary care. We distribute essential equipment and educate owners about the importance of preventive measures to keep their animals healthy and injury-free.
