## Description

Eigent is an open-source desktop cowork platform that helps individuals and teams use AI agents to complete real work. Users can choose supported cloud, enterprise-gateway, or local models, bring their own API keys, and customize how agents operate. The platform connects agents with relevant context, tools, files, and desktop or browser workflows, so they can research, write, analyze documents, and produce deliverables for review.

Eigent organizes workspaces into reusable Spaces that package agents, skills, connectors, and instructions. Features include scoped memory, scheduled or event-triggered automations, remote control, progress and action tracking, file history, and approval workflows. Agents can work in the browser with access restricted to approved targets, while users can inspect sources and changes before accepting results.

Eigent can run locally or be self-hosted in an environment controlled by the customer. The company also offers enterprise capabilities for team management, governance, and access controls. Its website describes SOC 2 readiness and GDPR compliance work as in progress.
