# Eissportverein Berlin - **Website:** - **Primary alias:** `eissportvereinberlin08.de` ## Description Eissportverein Berlin ’08 (EVB ’08) is a Berlin-based ice sports club dedicated to speed skating. Founded on 12 December 2008 by members who wanted athletes to pursue the sport outside a performance-based squad system, the club supports the idea that young people develop at different rates and can improve later in their sporting careers. Today, around 90 athletes train with EVB ’08, from children as young as four to Masters. Many have also achieved success in the squad systems associated with Berlin’s state performance centre and the German Speed Skating Association (DESG). The club offers speed skating training and introduces newcomers to the sport, including opportunities for children to arrange a trial session. Its activities and services include skating for schools, an ice skating camp, a sprint cup, and a workshop.
