ELAN RDC is a brand that focuses on private sector development in the Democratic Republic of Congo (RDC). Financed by UKAID and implemented by Adam Smith International, ELAN RDC aimed to reduce poverty in the country by increasing the incomes of over a million small-scale producers, entrepreneurs, and poor consumers. The brand worked in various sectors, including cereals and horticulture, special crops, renewable energy, distance banking, SME financing, gender equality and social inclusion, crisis markets, business-friendly environment, business development services, and transportation.

ELAN RDC established over 200 partnerships with private sector actors in RDC, providing technical advice, mobilizing funds, and promoting networks to transform business practices in key sectors. Although ELAN RDC has concluded its project, the British Embassy in RDC remains committed to building upon the achievements of ELAN and partnering with the Congolese private sector to foster greener and more inclusive growth for all.

With over 100 projects, 150+ partners, and nearly 1 million beneficiaries, ELAN RDC successfully improved market functioning in RDC. They facilitated access to finance for SMEs, supported farmers in increasing yields and market access, enhanced the competitiveness of Congolese cocoa and coffee, and worked on improving renewable energy and transportation systems.
