# Elinvoimainen järvilohi - **Website:** - **Primary alias:** `elinvoimainenjarvilohi.fi` ## Description Elinvoimainen järvilohi is a Finnish association and conservation initiative working to restore the critically endangered Lake Saimaa salmon. Launched in spring 2017 by the Puula, Suontee, and South and Central Päijänne fishing areas, the project focuses on strengthening the salmon population and improving its long-term viability. The Lake Saimaa salmon has been unable to reproduce naturally for around 50 years, leaving the population dependent on fish farming. Its limited genetic diversity is associated with changes in behavior, physical defects, and reduced vitality among young fish. To address these challenges, the initiative aims to strengthen the population’s genetic foundation using healthier salmon stocks. It also studies whether enriched rearing conditions can improve juvenile salmon survival during their lake phase. The project brings together fishing areas and leading Finnish salmon experts from the Natural Resources Institute Finland, the Centre for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment, the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, and several universities. ## Industries - 🧪 Science and Education - 🧪 Environmental Science _(under Science and Education)_ ## Links - [facebook](https://facebook.com/jarvilohi) ## Logos & icons - logo _(primary)_ — PNG — [download](https://cdn.brandfetch.io/id0pfjNqCC/w/232/h/200/theme/dark/logo.png?c=1bxid64Mup7aczewSAYMX&t=1792812858868) - icon _(primary)_ — PNG — [download](https://cdn.brandfetch.io/id0pfjNqCC/w/1576/h/1576/theme/dark/icon.png?c=1bxid64Mup7aczewSAYMX&t=1792812859198) ## Colors | Name | Hex | Theme | | --- | --- | --- | | Lochmara | #007cba | accent | | Black | #000000 | dark | | Portage | #9896f0 | light | --- _Source: _ _See [/llms.txt](/llms.txt) for a full list of agent-readable pages, and [/auth.md](/auth.md) for how agents authenticate._
