## Description

Elkem Japan is the Japanese subsidiary of Elkem ASA, a global materials company. Established as a Japanese company in 1985, it promotes Elkem products and provides customer service to businesses in Japan. Its history in the country dates back to 1928, when Elkem supplied its first furnace to Japan, followed by sales of metal-smelting furnaces through the 1970s.

Elkem Japan offers a range of materials, including silicon, silica fume (microsilica), ferrosilicon, carbon-based materials, foundry alloys, and silicones. The company supports customers with product information and access to technical and safety data sheets, and invites businesses to contact its team for assistance. Its Tokyo office is located in Akasaka, Minato City.

The company’s history also includes a foundry satellite office in Kakegawa, Shizuoka, and a silicone research and development laboratory opened in 2018; the laboratory was integrated into operations in Shanghai in 2024. Elkem Japan combines local sales and customer support with the products and wider expertise of its parent company.
