## Description

Ellen Carol DuBois is a distinguished pioneer in modern U.S. women's history, notable for her significant contributions to the understanding of women’s political history. Since the 1970s, she has reshaped the narrative surrounding women's suffrage by emphasizing women's political agency and the complexities within the suffragist movement. Her influential work not only focuses on women's pathways to full citizenship but also explores the global history of women’s rights from 1920 to 1970, extending beyond the conventional European and North American contexts.

DuBois is also celebrated for her collaborative initiatives in educational texts, including the innovative anthology "Unequal Sisters: A Multicultural Reader in U.S. Women’s History," co-edited with Vicki Ruiz, which has redefined multiculturalism in the field. Additionally, she co-authored "Through Women’s Eyes: An American History" with Lynn Dumenil, marking a significant progression in narrative history for U.S. women. Currently, she is working on a major biography of feminist icon Elizabeth Cady Stanton, furthering her commitment to expanding women's historical narratives.
