## Description

Ellis Nature Centre is a non-profit organization in Central Alberta connecting communities with wildlife, agriculture and industry through conservation, education and sustainable land stewardship. Formerly known as Ellis Bird Farm, it updated its name in 2024. The centre manages more than 480 acres of agricultural land while protecting areas for wildlife and public enjoyment. Its work includes long-running monitoring and research on mountain bluebirds, tree swallows and purple martins, with a bluebird trail of more than 400 nest boxes. The working farm also demonstrates regenerative agriculture, including rotational grazing.

Visitors can explore gardens, wetlands, nature trails, a historic grain elevator, a Wetland Activity Centre and a children’s Nature Playground. The centre offers outdoor school programs, kids’ activities, tours, workshops and seasonal events such as the Bluebird Festival and Bug Jamboree. Other experiences include bluebird banding and photography, while the Ellis Teahouse, facility rentals, birthday parties, weddings and community garden provide additional ways to enjoy the site. Entry is free, and donations are welcomed.
