## Description

El-Shalem Haven is a non-racial private learning establishment in Centurion, serving children and young adults with severe disabilities and unique learning needs. Established in January 2013, it provides a safe, nurturing and creative environment focused on each learner’s spiritual, social, cognitive and physical development. The Haven supports people with cognitive challenges, motor-development difficulties, limited or absent speech, autism, cerebral palsy, syndromes, and minor visual or hearing impairments, including those who may not be accommodated elsewhere.

Its small classes are limited to ten learners, with one tutor and two facilitators, and programs are tailored to help each child reach their potential. El-Shalem also provides breakfast, lunch and an afternoon snack or fruit, reflecting its emphasis on healthy nutrition. Practical life-skills learning covers personal care and hygiene, food preparation and cooking, feeding goals, and domestic skills. Therapeutic services include Kinder-Kinetics, speech therapy and physiotherapy, with physiotherapy available at the family’s own cost. A specialized team of tutors, facilitators and support staff delivers its learning and care programs.
