## Description

East London Yacht Club (ELYC) is a sailing and watersports club based at its current site just inside the Port of East London, where it has been established for 75 years. The club brings together people who enjoy sailing and time on the water, and welcomes new members to join its community. Its calendar features regattas, youth sailing events and other competitions, with past highlights including the Vasco da Gama Ocean Race finish line and the 2006 Dart 18 World Championships. Recent events listed by the club include Dart 18 and ILCA nationals, youth nationals, Frostbite sailing and an opening-of-season gathering. ELYC also has strong relationships with local watersports and community organisations, including Border Canoe Club, Border Inflatable Club, East London Open Water Swimmers, Kwelera Ski Boat Club and Buffalo River Yacht Club. For six years, it has hosted the NGO Waves for Change. The club has also provided water safety services for events such as Ironman and world surfing tours.
