## Description

Emergency Release is a dedicated, volunteer-run nonprofit organization based in New York City, focused on providing interest-free loans to communities in need. The organization primarily assists friends, family members, attorneys, and social workers seeking to cover bail or bonds for incarcerated individuals, particularly targeting the most vulnerable demographics including minors, transgender, gender-nonconforming, and intersex individuals disproportionately affected by structural violence.

Emergency Release emphasizes the importance of community involvement, encouraging volunteers and financial supporters to contribute to their mission. The loan application process is straightforward, allowing applicants to access the necessary funds to secure bail or partially-secured bonds. While the organization does not directly post bail, its role in facilitating these loans ensures that families can reunite with their loved ones in a timely manner. Through their compassionate approach, Emergency Release stands as a vital resource for those navigating the challenges of the justice system while advocating for social equity and support.
