## Description

The Water Institute is a not-for-profit, independent applied research and technical services organization that helps coastal and deltaic communities prepare for an uncertain future. Drawing on its experience in the Mississippi River Delta and Gulf Coast, it addresses challenges such as sea-level rise, land loss, subsidence, environmental degradation, and increasingly frequent or intense storms. Its work combines science, technology, planning, and decision support to help communities, businesses, and other stakeholders understand, manage, and reduce risks.

The Institute advances actionable research and serves as a thought partner, bringing together expertise across disciplines and organizations. Its services and initiatives include applied research projects, technical analyses, reports, and planning support. Through its Community Resilience Center, it works with partners and local communities in the northern Gulf of Mexico to develop equitable climate resilience strategies at individual, neighborhood, and government levels. Other initiatives include the Center of Excellence, FloodID, Crowdsourced Bathymetry, and the Water Innovation Studio of Louisiana.
