- **Website:** <https://energycodes.gov>
- **Primary alias:** `energycodes.gov`

## Description

The Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE) is dedicated to promoting sustainable and efficient energy practices. As a part of the U.S. Department of Energy's Building Technologies Office (BTO), the Building Energy Codes Program (BECP) focuses on developing, implementing, and enforcing building energy codes. These codes aim to improve energy efficiency while ensuring the safety and health of building occupants. BECP works closely with energy efficiency organizations, code development bodies, and the general public to support the development and adoption of cutting-edge energy codes. They provide technical assistance to states and issue determinations on energy savings resulting from updated codes. BECP also collaborates with building design representatives, code enforcement communities, and product manufacturers. The ultimate goal of BECP, aligned with BTO's vision, is to create a United States where buildings use the minimum amount of energy needed to provide comfort and support occupant activities. For more information, refer to the Building Energy Codes Program Fact Sheet and the BTO Multi-Year Program Plan (MYPP).
