## Description

The Engine, launched by MIT, is a brand that aims to bridge the gap between scientific discovery and commercialization by empowering disruptive technologies with long-term capital and support. Their mission is to create a more optimistic future by addressing the planet’s most challenging problems through Tough Tech. They believe that a healthier population, a more accessible society, and a more resilient world are all possible through science, engineering, and leadership. The Engine helps promising teams and breakthrough inventions gain momentum and avoid getting stuck inside a lab. They foster the Tough Tech ecosystem through events and convenings, providing founders with opportunities to build and grow their companies. This ecosystem thrives when everyone can contribute their expertise and benefit from the network, including through talent, partnerships, investments, and resources. With a strong allegiance to their roots at MIT, Boston, and the greater New England region, The Engine invests broadly and collaborates with governments, corporations, and academic institutions to shape the future for the better. They make it easier for Tough Tech to change the world.
