## Description

The English Ceramic Circle (ECC) is a registered charity and the oldest society dedicated to the study of British ceramics. Founded in 1927, it focuses on ceramics and enamels manufactured, decorated, or used in the British Isles. Its worldwide membership welcomes people at every level of knowledge, including collectors, curators, archaeologists, potters, auctioneers, dealers, social historians, researchers, and enthusiasts.

The ECC advances knowledge by sharing new research through meetings and publications. Members receive the annual journal, newsletters, and other ceramic volumes, and can attend regular lectures, seminars, collection visits, and handling sessions at museums and public collections. The Circle also arranges visits to private collections and exclusive auction previews. Its online archive provides searchable access to hundreds of papers published in its journal and transactions, supporting research into British pottery, porcelain, and enamels. Through these educational resources and welcoming events, the ECC helps members deepen their understanding of ceramic history, connect with experts, and share their interests with a broad community.
