## Description

The Equine Disease Communication Center (EDCC) is a vital resource dedicated to safeguarding horses and the equine industry from infectious diseases in North America. Established in response to a critical herpesvirus outbreak in 2011, the EDCC serves as an industry-driven communication hub, efficiently disseminating real-time alerts and reports regarding disease threats. Collaborating closely with organizations such as the American Horse Council and the American Association of Equine Practitioners, the EDCC has posted over 2,300 alerts covering various equine diseases since its inception.

Offering a range of services, the EDCC focuses on biosecurity education, disease mitigation strategies, and vaccination resources, all aimed at promoting the health and safety of equine populations. With a strong commitment to prevent panic and misinformation during disease outbreaks, the center also provides a platform for veterinarians and horse owners to stay informed. Through their dedicated staff and comprehensive resources, the EDCC continues to play a crucial role in the equine health landscape, ensuring safer environments for both horses and their owners.
