## Description

The Equinox Preservation Trust is a nonprofit organization that manages the Equinox Preserve, a 914-acre natural area on the slopes of Mount Equinox in Manchester, Vermont. The land is owned by the Equinox Resort and was permanently protected in 1996 through conservation easements donated to the Vermont Land Trust. The Trust’s mission is to encourage responsible land use and protect natural and cultural history by helping people connect with the environment through education, research, and environmentally sensitive recreation.

Visitors can explore hiking, cross-country skiing, and snowshoeing trails, supported by trail maps, pocket guides, user information, and on-site kiosks. Some routes may close temporarily for repairs or to prevent damage during muddy conditions. The Preserve also offers opportunities to learn about its ecology, wildlife, and diverse forest communities, which range from lower-elevation hardwoods and pines to spruce and fir at higher elevations. Through research, ecological stewardship, news updates, and visitor resources, the Trust supports the long-term care of this landscape and encourages people to experience it responsibly.
