## Description

Equivita is an equine mediation and horse-preservation centre in Espezel, in the Aude region of southern France. Located on the Plateau de Sault amid the Pyrenean and Pays Cathare landscapes, it has cared for and promoted the Castillonnais, a rare local mountain horse breed, since 2008. The horses live outdoors in a herd, with attention to their social, physical and emotional needs.

Equivita offers individual and small-group equine mediation, conscious walks in the forest alongside the herd, visits with the horses, riding lessons, workshops and immersive stays. Its itinerant therapeutic stays take place over several days, on foot or horseback, combining time in the landscape with personal reflection. The centre also provides opportunities to learn about subtle communication and equine-assisted education, and offers horse sponsorship to support the herd’s care, including the retirement of older animals.

Equivita’s approach emphasizes attentive, respectful encounters and each person’s pace. No previous riding experience is needed; activities invite participants to connect with themselves, others, nature and the horses.
