## Description

ERGO, also known as the Rotterdam Study, is a long-running population health research project conducted by Erasmus MC in the Ommoord neighbourhood of Rotterdam. It involves nearly 20,000 people aged 40 and over and investigates health problems that become more common with age. Through its research, ERGO aims to improve understanding of how diseases develop and progress, contributing to knowledge that can support healthier ageing.

The study covers 14 research areas and is carried out by a team of more than 80 experienced staff. Participant assessments begin with an interview about health and lifestyle, followed by examination rounds and an MRI examination at the ERGO Centre. Participants receive selected results in a consultation with a study doctor. Medical information is stored confidentially and anonymously.

ERGO also provides participant services, including forms for updating personal details, information about study procedures and results, frequently asked questions, and news about research findings and activities.
