## Description

East Suburban Citizen Advocacy (ESCA) is a dedicated non-profit organization established in 1988, focused on improving the lives of individuals with developmental disabilities in Westmoreland County and Eastern Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. Born from the concerns of parents seeking support for their adult children, ESCA provides tailored advocacy services to meet the unique needs of each individual. Their work encompasses various aspects of life, including education, housing, employment, and legal matters, ensuring that vulnerable populations are heard and supported in their goals.

ESCA’s advocates offer free assistance in navigating complex systems like the Individual Education Plan (IEP) processes and eligibility for developmental services. They encourage community involvement through volunteer opportunities, fostering meaningful relationships that enhance the quality of life for those with disabilities. Furthermore, ESCA promotes awareness and social inclusion, equipping volunteers with the skills needed to treat individuals with respect and dignity. Through its various programs and events, ESCA remains committed to building a supportive and inclusive community for all.
