## Description

The European Society for Evolutionary Biology (ESEB) is an academic society dedicated to supporting the study of organic evolution. It brings together more than 1,500 evolutionary biologists from Europe and around the world, including researchers, lecturers, students, journalists and others interested in evolution. Through membership, ESEB connects people across the evolutionary biology community and supports research, education and knowledge sharing.

The society offers a broad programme of resources and opportunities. Its activities include conferences and meetings, such as the European Meeting of PhD Students in Evolutionary Biology, as well as special topic networks that foster collaboration on research questions ranging from ancient DNA to brain evolution. ESEB provides prizes, travel awards, grants and other funding to support researchers, students, outreach and equal opportunities. It also supports scholarly publishing through the Journal of Evolutionary Biology and Evolution Letters, and provides community resources including the EvolDir directory. ESEB shares news, newsletters and policy-related information, helping members stay informed and connected across the field.
