# ESOREF - **Website:** - **Primary alias:** `esoref.fr` ## Description The Orthodox Funeral Service, known as ESOREF, has organised funerals since 2010 with the blessing of the Assembly of Orthodox Bishops and in close collaboration with the Orthodox Church. Its services are grounded in Christian faith and hope, while remaining open to families of any background. The organisation arranges funerals for people who die in France or abroad, guiding families through practical steps and helping coordinate ceremonies according to the deceased’s wishes. Its support includes funeral arrangements, transfers to a funeral home or home, repatriation to or from France, international departures, exhumations and transfers of relics. ESOREF can also assist when a death occurs in complex circumstances, coordinating preparations while legal procedures are underway. A 24-hour telephone service is available for urgent guidance. The service also offers attentive support to families facing a loved one’s terminal illness, informed by its manager’s experience as a chaplain in palliative care.
