About

Description

Extra Special People, Inc. (ESP) is a brand that was founded in 1986 in Watkinsville, Georgia with the mission to create a supportive community for individuals of all abilities. ESP initially started as a one-week summer camp for just 21 participants, but it has now grown to serve over 500 participants from more than 30 counties in Georgia.

ESP offers a wide range of programs and services to its participants, including 8 weeks of summer camp, after-school enrichment programs, and ongoing family support. Participants of all ages and abilities are welcome, and ESP caters to individuals with various diagnoses such as Cerebral Palsy, Down syndrome, Autism, Traumatic Brain Injury, and Spina Bifida, among others. ESP provides specialized programs that enable participants to thrive through activities like swimming, dancing, arts and crafts, and cooking.

In addition, ESP offers family support, retreats, counseling, and holiday events. To accommodate the growing number of participants, ESP recently opened a 14,000 square foot Activity Building and renovated its original gym. Furthermore, ESP has expanded its services through the establishment of a universally accessible overnight camp, the Java Joy mobile coffee cart, and the ESP Miracle League, which aims to create a fully accessible baseball field and playground.

As the only program of its kind in the region, ESP is committed to continually growing and providing innovative and accessible experiences for individuals of all abilities to thrive
